Allergan Issues a Voluntary Recall on Birth Control Capsules

According to a company statement, a physician report identified a packaging error that placed four placebo capsules out of sequence in a sample pack of TAYTULLA.

The company states that it may place the user at risk for contraceptive failure and unintended pregnancy.

The samples were sent to US health-care providers beginning in August 2017 with Lot# 5620706, expiring May 2019. Allergan urged patients to consult their physician or healthcare provider with questions or concerns.


Paypal Acquires an AI Retail Prediction Platform

According to a company statement by Harshal Deo, PayPal’s VP of Product and Engineering, the company has acquired Jetlore.

Jetlore’s proprietary prediction platform delivers personalized customer experiences to increase sales and loyalty. It’s used by retailers such as Uniqlo and Nordstrom Rack.

The acquisition looks to enhance and accelerate its PayPal Marketing Solutions offering and add new capabilities that would expand its value proposition to merchants beyond the online checkout experience.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Moody’s Invests in QuantCube, an AI-Based Predictive Analytics Firm

According to a company press release, Moody’s Corporation announced on Tuesday that it has made a strategic minority investment in QuantCube Technology.

QuantCube provides real-time, AI-based predictive analytics for corporate clients, financial institutions, and investment managers. The company supports a global and diverse client base with offerings including macroeconomic analysis, investment analysis and real-time analytics and data visualization.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, however, Moody’s stated that the investment was funded through available offshore cash and will not have a material impact on its 2018 financial results.


The Trans Mountain Pipeline System will be Sold to the Government of Canada

Kinder Morgan Canada announced on Tuesday that the Government of Canada will purchase the Trans Mountain Pipeline system and the expansion project for C$4.5 billion.

The pipeline carries crude and refined oil from Alberta to the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. It looks to increase daily capacity from 300,000 to 890,000 barrels while improving market access to the US Pacific Coast and Northeast Asia.

According to a Canadian Department of Finance News release, the government stated that it doesn’t plan to own the project in the long-term and will work with investors to transfer the project and related assets to a new owner or owners.

The parties expect to close the transaction late in the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter of this year.

According to the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Index, data released on Tuesday for March 2018 shows that home prices continued to rise across the United States over the last 12 months.

According to the report, Seattle, Las Vegas, and San Francisco reported the highest year-over-year gains amongst 20 cities, which include New York, Chicago, and Dallas.

Singapore Airlines Introduces a 19-Hour Flight

The airline announced today that it will offer non-stop services between Singapore and New York using the new Airbus A350-900 ultra-long-range.

According to the company, the route will initially be served three times a week, departing Singapore on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday with daily flights beginning on October 18th. The flights will be between Singapore Changi Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.

Flights will cover a distance of approximately 16,700km, and traveling time will be close to 19 hours.
