Airbnb Partners with 23andMe to Offer Heritage Travel Experiences
The accommodations marketplace announced that it’s working with the personal genomics company to offer a heritage travel product.
The partnership will recommend heritage travel experiences to a user’s native country once that user receives his or her 23andMe personalized ancestry report. According to an Airbnb news release, “Airbnb now has dedicated pages that correspond with 23andMe’s genetic populations, so that travelers coming to Airbnb’s site will be able to easily plan an end-to-end heritage trip.”
Verily, a life sciences research organization owned by Alphabet, announced that it has formed strategic alliances with Pfizer, Otsuka, Novartis, and Sanofi.
The collaboration looks to bring a more-tech driven approach to help modernize clinical trials. According to Research America, less than 10% of the US population participates in clinical research.
According to a Verily press release, the initiative looks to “implement a more patient-centric, technology-enabled approach to research, and increase the number and diversity of clinical research participants.”
Microsoft Looks to Use Big Data to Help Reimagine Healthcare

The technology company announced that it plans to use its Microsoft Azure cloud product to help tap into health data to empower healthcare teams, improve operational outcomes and care coordination, and personalize healthcare.
The company stated that it’s currently working with the Seattle Children’s Research Institute to better understand the correlations and causes of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Microsoft stated that it’s using a combination of publicly available data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other datasets.
