BP Plans for Growth in the Gulf of Mexico
The multinational oil and gas company announced that its recent breakthroughs with enhanced seismic imaging have helped the company identify approximately 1 billion barrels of oil in the Gulf of Mexico.
The company stated in a press release that its recent discovery “could create further development opportunities around the production hubs it operates in the region.”
The retail giant announced that it’s testing a new autonomous delivery pilot service with Udelv, a self-driving delivery startup.
The service will initially run in Surprise, Arizona, a city located North West of Phoenix.
Walmart has recently begun an autonomous delivery pilot with Waymo and Ford, to explore customer usage trends surrounding different delivery methods.
IBM Introduces a Commercial Quantum Computing System
The company unveiled the “IBM Q System One™, the world’s first integrated universal approximate quantum computing system designed for scientific and commercial use.”
The announcement was made on January 8th, at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Quantum technology is said to have the computing power that is able to work on complex problems that modern-day systems are currently unable to handle. According to a company press release, “future applications of quantum computing may include finding new ways to model financial data and isolating key global risk factors to make better investments, or finding the optimal path across global systems for ultra-efficient logistics and optimizing fleet operations for deliveries.”
