Starbucks Teams up Uber Eats
The coffee company announced that it’s teaming up with Uber Eats to expand its delivery service in the United States, following a successful pilot in Miami that began in the fall of 2018.
The service will initially be available in San Francisco, and expand to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C.
According to a report by Statista, “the global online food delivery market currently represents a $95 billion opportunity and is projected to grow by more than 11 percent annually through 2023.”
Apple Pay Expands its Merchant Partnerships
The contactless payment system that lets customers pay for items using their iPhone and Apple Watch will soon be available at 74 of the top 100 US Merchants including, Taco Bell, Target, and Best Buy.
The latest expansion will bring Apple Pay’s availability to 65% of all retail locations across the country.
Viacom Acquires a Streaming Service
The multinational media conglomerate announced that it has agreed to acquire Pluto TV, an on-demand streaming service for $340 million in cash.
The acquisition looks to help Viacom expand its presence across next-generation distribution platforms and grow its advertising business.
The deal is expected to close before the end of the first quarter of 2019.
