UPS Tests a Smart-Key Delivery System

The company announced on Tuesday that it has begun testing a Latch smart access device to enable in-building deliveries to multi-unit homes in New York City. The pilot looks to provide convenience for residents who are not at home to receive packages by using smartphones to unlock doors throughout a building.

UPS stated that it had already begun the pilot in Manhattan earlier this year and has now expanded to Brooklyn. The company hinted that it could possibly launch this service nationwide in the United States.

The pilot is similar to Amazon’s recently announced keyless entry system that allows couriers to drop off packages inside a residence if a customer is not home.


IHOP Partners with DoorDash

The restaurant chain announced on Tuesday that it has teamed up with the on-demand delivery company, DoorDash, to launch delivery from more than 300 locations across the United States.

IHOP plans to have approximately 1,000 restaurants added to the DoorDash platform before the end of the year.

Founded in 2013, DoorDash connects customers with local and national businesses in more than 850 cities across the United States and Canada.


China’s Didi Chuxing Teams up with Booking Holdings

Both companies announced the strategic partnership on Tuesday with Booking Holdings investing $500 million US Dollars in DiDi.

The partnership looks to provide Booking Holdings customers with the ability to request on-demand car service, powered by DiDi. DiDi users will have the option to book hotels through Booking.com or agoda.

Booking Holdings serves users and partners in more than 220 countries and territories through its major brands including Booking.com, agoda.com, KAYAK, Priceline, Rentalcars.com, and OpenTable.


Mastercard Could Potentially Roll Out Bitcoin Payments

CNBC reported on Tuesday that Mastercard has a new patent that could potentially allow it to offer bitcoin payments through its credit cards.

Although no new products have been announced, the patent document, which was published with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Tuesday, stated that “blockchain currencies have seen increased usage over traditional fiat currencies by consumers who value anonymity and security.”

The new patent could give Mastercard the option to offer cryptocurrency transaction capabilities and speed up the adoption of the technology.


Amazon Teams up with the Major League Baseball Organization

The partnership looks to amplify game statistical data integrations within broadcasts, and develop new technologies to support MLB Clubs in driving innovative fan experiences and engagement across all 30 Major League ballparks.


Inkbox Raises $13 Million

Since 2016, the company announced that it has grown 1000 percent, expanded its team to 60 people, and sold 450,000 tattoos to customers in over 150 countries.
