Sam’s Club Pilots a New Cashierless Store
The retail warehouse club announced that it’s close to opening Sam’s Club Now, “a mobile-first shopping experience powered by the new Sam’s Club Now app”. The shopping experience allows customers to scan items, pay through the app, and walk out the door.
Aside from offering a new retail experience to its members, the new store will serve as the company’s innovation lab to test new retail concepts.
The 32,000 square foot store, which is located in Dallas, is expected to open within the next few weeks.
Amazon Announces That it Has Donated More than $100 Million to Charities Through its AmazonSmile Program
The AmazonSmile program allows customers to donate a portion of their purchase to a charity of their choice.
As part of the program, customers can “select from more than one million charities”.
AmazonSmile was launched in 2013.
Blue Apron Teams up with Walmart
The meal kit company announced that it has partnered with Jet.com, an eCommerce company owned by Walmart, to offer meals through its website.
Meal kits will be available to consumers located in New York City, Jersey City, and Hoboken.
Blue Apron will be available to customers through Jet’s same-day or next-day delivery offering. The partnership gives Blue Apron a new channel that looks to boost sales and help it compete against the rise of other meal subscription kit companies.
