Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan Chase Announce The CEO of Their Newly-Formed Healthcare Company

The companies announced on Wednesday that Dr. Atul Gawande will lead the new employee healthcare initiative as Chief Executive Officer, effective July 9th.

Last January, the three organizations announced a partnership that looks to address healthcare for its U.S.-based employees. The partnership looks to focus on technology that provides U.S. employees and their families with simplified, high-quality and transparent healthcare at a reasonable cost.

Dr. Gawande practices at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and is Professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School. He has also founded a health innovation center and has written for The New Yorker and New York Times.

The new company will be headquartered in Boston.

JPMorgan’s Asset Management Division Lands a Deal with Amazon

The company announced on Wednesday that it’s working with Amazon to provide 85 multifamily properties with more than 23,000 units of Hub by Amazon.

Hub by Amazon is a secure locker storage for properties that allows residents to receive packages from anyone, anytime, not just from Amazon. The units are fully automated and conveniently located in building lobbies or mailrooms and is free for residents to use.

Installation of the Hub’s in the 85 multifamily properties is underway.

CVS Rolls Out Prescription Delivery Nationwide in the US

CVS announced that prescription delivery is now available from CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide in the United States.

Customers now have the ability to have their medications delivered directly to their mailbox, as quickly as the next day. Orders can be made through the CVS Pharmacy app or by calling their neighborhood store and asking to have their prescriptions delivered.

CVS is the first national drugstore chain to offer pharmacy delivery from approximately 9,800 locations as quickly as the next-day.

Match Group Adds a New Company to its Portfolio

The Match Group announced on Wednesday that it has acquired a 51% ownership stake in Hinge, a New York City-based relationship app.

After investing in the company in September 2017, Hinge’s user base grew by more than 400%, with meaningful traction in East Coast markets.

As a result, the Match Group added new investments to help Hinge enhance its product and boost marketing.

The Group has the right to acquire all the remaining shares of the company within the next 12 months. Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

AMC Theatres Launches a New Subscription Service

The company announced on Wednesday of a new program that rewards its customers with up to three movies per week for just $19.95 per month.

The new program is called AMC Stubs A-List and is an extension of its current membership rewards program.

The new subscription looks to compete against upstarts in the industry such as MoviePass and Sinemia.

Facebook Introduces a New Way for Group Admins to Make Money

The new feature will be called Subscription Groups for Admins and will allow administrators to track and collect payments from their members.

The move looks to help admins deepen engagement and continue to support their communities.

Instagram Launches a Youtube Competitor

Instagram announced that it has rolled out IGTV, a new app for watching long-form, vertical video.

Users will be able to stream content that is up to 1-hour in length. They will also be able to watch videos from within the Instagram app.

In addition to the announcement, the company also stated that it has reached a milestone of over 1 billion users since it launched in 2010.
