Ford is Teaming up with a Few Companies to Launch a Blockchain Initiative

The automaker is working with Huayou Cobalt, IBM, LG Chem, and RCS Global to work on a project that traces and validates ethically sourced minerals.

According to an IBM press release, the initiative includes participants from each critical stage of the supply chain.

The group looks to explore options in creating a blockchain platform that could be used across the industry when looking to “trace and validate a range of minerals used in consumer products.”


WeWork Reaches a New Milestone

The coworking company announced that it reached a milestone last month of opening its 100th city across the globe.

The company stated that it operated approximately 425 locations in the 100 cities it operates in with more than half of its growth being from outside of North America.


Microsoft Announces an Affordable Housing Initiative

The multinational tech company announced that it’s committing $500 million to help address affordable housing issues in the greater Seattle region, which is currently the 6th most expensive region in the United States.

According to a company blog post, $225 million will be used to help subsidize the preservation and construction of middle-income housing, $250 million will be used to support low-income housing, and $25 million will be used to provide philanthropic grants to address homelessness in the region.
