Time Magazine Has a New Owner
Meredith Corporation, the parent company of Time Magazine, announced that it “has entered into a definitive agreement to sell the TIME media brand to Marc and Lynne Benioff for $190 million in cash.”
The deal is unrelated to Salesforce.com, an enterprise cloud computing company founded by Marc Benioff who is currently chairman and co-CEO.
According to a press release, “Mr. and Mrs. Benioff will not be involved in the day-to-day operations or journalistic decisions” of TIME a media brand that reaches “100 million readers in print and online, including over 50 million digital visitors and 40 million social followers each month.”
The deal is expected to close within the next 30 days.
Target Announces New Hiring Targets for the Upcoming Holiday Season
The retailer announced that it plans to hire approximately 120,000 seasonal employees across the United States for the upcoming holiday season.
The new seasonal hires look to fill a variety of roles across the company’s stores and distribution and fulfillment centers.
Airbnb Opens an Office for its Experiences Marketplace
The new office will be located in Los Angeles and will serve as a hub for the company’s growing Experiences team.
According to a company press release, the new hub “will be part of more than 30 Airbnb regional offices around the world and will initially be home to some 40 new employees.”
Airbnb Experiences is an extended product offering by the marketplace, which allows local residents to earn extra revenue by offering tailored experiences around specific interests and passions, such as hikes, cooking classes, and intimate concerts.
