American Express Expands its Strategic Partnership with PayPal
Both companies are expanding its strategic partnership that looks to enhance the “digital payments experience for U.S. American Express Card Members paying with PayPal and Venmo.”
The deal includes the opportunity for American Express users to earn Membership Rewards points with online payments using Paypal. It will also allow users to send peer-to-peer payments via Paypal and Venmo directly from the Amex mobile app.
As part of the partnership, both companies also look to explore the development of new products and services. The integrations and features are expected to be completed in 2019.
Starbucks Looks to Fully License its Operations in Four European Markets
Starbucks announced that it plans to fully license its “operations in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg” to Alsea, an operator of independent chain restaurants in Latin America.
The deal provides Alsea with the opportunity to operate and develop new stores within the European market.
To support the new strategy in the region, Starbucks announced that it’s closing its support centre in Amsterdam.
Ryder Expands Last Mile Delivery in North America
The transportation and supply chain management company announced that it’s expanding Ryder Last Mile, its “home delivery and white-glove installation solution for big-and-bulky goods” service to 11 North American markets.
The company’s e-fulfillment network will now include 136 facilities with 95% coverage across the United States and Canada within a 48-hour time frame.
According to a company press release, the new service looks to help “Ryder to stay ahead of the curve in today’s “now” economy”.
