Nissan’s Board of Directors Vote to Discharge Carlos Ghosn as Chairman

The auto manufacturers board has announced that Ghosn will no longer serve as its Chairman after he was arrested last week on suspicion of financial misconduct.

Ghosn is alleged to have under-reported approximately $44 million in income over the course of 5 years while also misusing company assets. According to the Washington Post, he faces a maximum 10-year sentence if convicted.

Nissan stated in a company press release that “the long-standing Alliance partnership with Renault remains unchanged”.


Nokia Establishes a New Division to Explore Opportunities in 5G Technology

The multinational telecommunications and electronics company announced that it is establishing a new division to fully exploit opportunities in 5G.

The new division will “consist of Nokia’s current Mobile Networks and Fixed Networks Business Groups, with the change to take effect on January 1, 2019”.

5G, or fifth-generation of mobile cellular communications, is the latest iteration of wireless technology that reduces latency and improves the speed and performance of wireless networks.
