Airbnb Acquires a Hotel Booking Service
The hospitality company announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire HotelTonight, a last-minute boutique, and independent hotel booking app.
The deal will help Airbnb build an end-to-end travel platform, meet the demand for boutique hotels, and expand opportunities for home hosts through an increased customer base.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The on-demand scooter company announced that it’s launching its platform in Canada, Latin America, and New Zealand.
The platform allows entrepreneurs and business owners to operate a Bird-branded e-scooter fleet.
Bird operates in more than 100 cities across the globe. According to CrunchBase, the company, which was founded in 2017, has received a total funding amount of $415 million.
Mondelez Invests in Uplift Food
The multinational food and beverage company announced that it has taken a minority stake in the “US-based early-stage start-up focusing on prebiotic functional foods.”
The announcement makes it the first investment made through the SnackFutures program. SnackFutures is Mondelez’s innovation hub, and venture investment unit.
As part of the deal, the SnackFutures team will provide the Uplift team with strategic support in marketing, R&D, sourcing, and distribution.
