Amazon Scores a Deal with the Premiere League

Amazon announced on Thursday that Amazon Prime Video UK has secured a deal with the Premiere League to stream football (or soccer) games for its 2019/2020 season.

According to a company press release, live and exclusive Premier League matches, and weekly highlights packages, will be available on Prime Video in the UK at no extra cost for Prime Members.

Amazon Prime Video has worked with other sports associations and has streamed several live sporting events including the US Open Tennis, ATP World Tour Tennis events and select NFL games.


Rakuten Acquires a Store Pickup and Delivery Company

The Japan-based company announced on Friday, Tokyo time, that it has acquired Curbside, a Palo-Alto based technology company that works with Fortune 100 retailers and quick-service restaurant chains to streamline their online orders.

Founded in 2013, Curbsides offers predictive arrival technology that powers mobile shopping for store pickup and home delivery for consumers in the United States.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Linkedin Introduces a Feature That Helps You Calculate Commute Times to Potential Employers

Linkedin announced the “Your Commute” feature in a company blog post on Thursday. The new feature helps job seekers understand their potential commute time to a potential employer before applying for the role.

When viewing job listings, users will be able to set their address to calculate how long it would take to get to an office via walking, driving or on public transportation.

The 44th annual G7 summit will be held in Quebec, Canada today.

Members from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States will gather in a two-day event to build consensus and discuss today’s most challenging global issues.

A few points of discussion for the summit will be the future of jobs, climate change, and building a more peaceful and secure world.


Argentina Lands a $50 Billion Financing Deal with the International Monetary Fund

The IMF announced on Thursday that it has reached an agreement with Argentine authorities on a 3-year line of credit of $50 billion. This comes after the country sought assistance in May after its currency hit an all-time low.

The deal will still need to be approved by IMF’s Executive Board who will review the country’s economic plans.

Ms. Christine Lagarde stated that quote “At the core of the government’s economic plan is a rebalancing of the fiscal position. We fully support this priority and welcome the authorities’ intention to accelerate the pace at which they reduce the federal government’s deficit, restoring the primary balance by 2020.”

It’s also noted that Argentina will host this year’s G20 Summit which is to take place in Buenos Aires in November.


Nutella Plans to Open a Cafe In New York City

Ferrero announced in a press release on Thursday that it will open a Nutella Cafe in New York by the end of the year.

The cafe will feature a Nutella-inspired cafe menu and specialty espresso beverages.

The planned opening follows its first cafe which was launched in Chicago in May 2017.
