Airbnb Hires a Global Aviation Expert

In an effort to reach its goals of building an end-to-end travel platform, the home share company announced that it has hired Fred Reid as its new Global Head of Transportation.

He will focus on establishing partnerships and services within the travel and tourism sectors.

Reid is an aviation industry pioneer with over three decades of experience. Prior to Airbnb, he has held executive roles at Cora Aircraft, Flexijet, Virgin America, Delta Airlines, Lufthansa, and the Star Alliance.


Self-driving Startup, Aurora, Raises Over $530 Million

The self-driving technology company announced that it has “secured over $530 million in Series B financing led by Sequoia.” Other investor participants in the new funding round include Amazon, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Greylock.

The new funds look to help Aurora invest in its technology offering, strengthen its team, and contribute to its ecosystem.


WeWork Acquires Euclid

The coworking company announced that it has acquired Euclid, a spatial-analytics platform that uses WiFi to better understand how spaces are used.

The deal looks to help WeWork provide insights and analytics to its enterprise customers so that they can determine how their employees are utilizing their workplaces.

WeWork’s enterprise offering, which is called Powered by We, currently makes up to 30% of its membership base with clients that include UBS, and Standard Chartered. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
